Oakwood is fortunate to have Mr. Salzwedel as a physical education instructor. Known as 'Coach S', he works closely with students to help build their confidence in their physical abilities. Mr. Salzwedel is a local celebrity athlete, having played professionally for two soccer teams, including the San Jose Earthquakes (formerly Clash). Mr. Salzwedel graduated from California Lutheran University with a bachelor's degree in Communications, and played four seasons on the men's soccer team as the starting goalkeeper. His honors in college include two-time NAIA All American, four-time All Conference (GSAC), four-time MVP, team Captain for four years, and induction into the California Lutheran University Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Salzwedel's experience as a successful athlete and his patience and respect for students make for a dynamic experience in physical education.
